Hi folks, Cooper Hawkes here with Sony news for Wednesday, December 1st, 2005.
Normally I would itemize the news, but I'm gong to do something a bit different. PlayStation news has been, for lack of a better word, scarce. There are many rumors for why they are keeping quiet, but the biggest, (and probably the most accurate) is that because of the Rootkit fiasco, Sony is trying to keep a low profile.
That being said: There’s still tiny bits of information out there. For one, Sony is going to have one of the BIGGEST stages at CES in January. Gee, I wonder if they are going to announce a new style of High Definition Televsion there?
Seriously, the stage they are getting is HUGE, 3660 square feet. To quote the digg article:
That's a lot. Time to take away the X360 thunder.
So we only have about one more month before clearer details emerge on the PlayStation 3, and supposedly there will be PLAYABLE games there. That would be a nice twist.
The other bit of news is the 100 million unit Milestone for the PlayStation 2. Mind you that is in units shipped, but still, an impressive amount of PlayStation 2’s produced. The funny part is, if Sony sticks with it’s normal pattern, they will probably ship another 50 million before they call end of life on the PlayStation 2 series. Look at the PlayStation 1, they are STILL shipping them, though I can only assume that’s going to stop as soon as PlayStation 3 hits the stores.
With the Xbox 360 out and doing well, Sony is gearing up for its upcoming war with the concave box, and the first tangible strike should come very soon.

Semper Fi!
I'm really hoping we see some good stuff in january, because the news side of gaming is really freaking dead right now - My google alerts for PS3 have been obsessed with the PARENTAL CONTROLS
Honestly, consoles have had one form of parental controls since last gen, how is this news?
AND that was announced way the hell BACK!
And the funny thing is that no American parent will take the time to learn about these parental controls.
In fact, most won't even know what they're buying for their kid.
Parental Controls? SNNNNNNNKKKKKKKKKR.
I think PS3 will top XB360. I don't know. Maybe it won't.
