Thanks to 1337 from our forums for catching this one, apparently this shot showed up on the Bungie.net forums and was quickly pulled with bannings for everyone who replied to the thread. Real or Fake? Who knows... But its fun to speculate :)

Only thing I don't get, why the friends option when you have the guide button?? Unless they have stuff planned specifically for halo 3 and buddies
Probably a fake but it looks like they've gone to a bit of trouble mocking it up on a PC then displaying through an HD set via DVI.

Looks a lot like the Halo 2 main screen when the game was being tested by Microsoft employees.
But the "Y"-Button on the bottom left seems like a fake.. the Friends-List should be called via the Guide-Button, doesn't it?

Classic mode sounds good if this is real , well we will hvae to find out when the game comes out. But i don't think everyone that sent a thread in would have got bann its a bit silly don't you think , i think they would have bann the person who sent the pic in and then convinced people the screen shot was a fake.

however, this has got to be one of the better fakes i've seen in a very long time. (anyone remember the old street fighter 2 fake in EGM that showed sheng long?)
Yeah, there are going to be a ton of these fakes for the next year. I remember there were some really good ones with Halo 2, I mean... really damn good. But none proved to be true.
I'll still follow them though, speculation is fun. XD
No offense but what the hell is so damn great about the Halo titles anyways? I mean they aren't terrible games by any means so don't get me wrong, but I don't necessarily see what sets them that much further beyond the average FPS title. I know I'm going to get told about XBL and multiplayer and shit, but I just can't see that it's that much better than the rest. I must be missing something here.
And yes I have the PC version of Halo and plan on getting Halo 2 for the PC and Windows Vista to play it. I was just going to ask a question about Halo 3 that I think you'll all be able to guess what it is rather easily, but I'll leave it there. You all know me by now. :)
BTW, what is with all this damn sequel-itis? Doom 3, Quake 4, DNF, Battlefield 2, UT2k7, etc. I hate the very idea of seeing my favorite games just die off (those listed aren't the defined group) at one or two games in a series, but at the same time I want to see some original IP here! >_<
Sorry for being off-topic, though. I get on one of these little rants every now and then. Could be from all the cans of Coca Cola I drank. The sugar and caffienne can get to me like that if I drink to many. Just have some fun playing Halo 3 when it comes out! :)

Yes lowestformofwit, I think we all realized that it's fake. Booger2000 already pointed that out. But my questions still stand.
I personally think Halo helps set the bar for fps (and yes, on pc too despite how much pc people love to bash it) Not only is the story and the main character pretty kickass, the gameplay is rock solid and screams quality in nearly every area. The physics, graphics, music, animations, weapons, controls, multiplayer, sound effects, atmosphere, level design, ai...god, just about everything is just so polished and never really feels half-assed at any moment. It's just a very solid overall package.
While it may not be the best in any one area, it's everything combined that sets it amongst the best I think.
You got a point there asd. Now that I think of it, you're right that the focus of the game was evenly split and not stuck on just one aspect. It does feel solid throughout the game. However when it comes to graphics and physics, then Half-Life 2 kicks the living crap out of Halo 1 and 2. Hands frickin' down it does! As for weapons, that's up for debate (I loves me a HL2 gravity gun!). But my favorite part of the Halo games was the AI, which is something that often seems ignored due to focus on multiplayer functionality on the part of developers.
Halo's AI is incredibly smart as versus to something as bad in that department as the botmatch AI of the UT2k4 mod Frag Ops which have the intellegence of a lobotomized chimpanzee. With Halo the enemies are very responsive and utilize their surroundings and weaponry to kill you if they can. I wish the Half-Life titles would do the same since that is constant plague on them if you ask me. The AI I'll agree with you completely on. I can't wait to see what Halo 3 is going to do! Any guesses?

Hmm... I got whim of this story not from GA.com itself, but Kotaku, and they really made GA look bad.
But, this is just the start of speculations and OMGs. I expect more people and sites to be shot at before Halo 3 is out and about. Maybe it's these "trade secrets" they want to keep secret.
looks awesome, i'm praying to the halo gods that it is real, bad feeling that it isn't, too good to be true, but it doesn't hurt to wish for it.
today, i created a voting message board aimed at getting Bungie to allow for a "Classic Mode" for Halo 3, as well as getting "CM" on XBox Live. some people will think it's dumb i'm sure, or there's probably a million of these out there, but hey, i'm doing what i can for the Halo Combat Evolved gamers out there. i love Halo, played thousand of multiplayer games, and i've tried to play Halo 2, several times, but it just doesn't compare.
