Hey all!
Andy, here, with still another installment of GA.com's Illiterate Gamer Reviews
In this installment, Andy and Mike take on the latest and greatest in ZOMBIE technology as they dissect Capcom's DEAD RISING. Plenty of stories, a lot of bitching and a dash of humor accompany this hour-and-something long-form review of the game.
As always, we're open to suggestions and would love any feedback you care to provide On Our Forums

Yes, I'm aware theres a clip missing in the middle - appologies about that, it didnt get done in time
Nice review!
I think you hit the fucking nail on the head. This game is great, but there are those little anoying things that just piss me off about this game such as the single game save slot, and the fact that it is nearly imposable to read any of the dialog.
Considering that I work 50 to 60 hours a week makes it very diffacult to make any progress on this game. Games that have multiple save, or save any time slots work very well when time is short, because I dont have to worry about losing my 15 min to half our of game play.
Any body that makes a game diffacult to progress through the levels due to the lack of save points needs to have their nards ripped off, and shuved in there ears because they are NOT listening, or trying to understand the gamming community. Many gammers have other responsablities, and obligations that more important then then spending endless amounts of time on a game. Gamming is ment to be fun! When you are unable to progress in a game due to the fact that it may take an hour or more to progress to the next save point or level with out lossing your progress because you had to stop before arriving at the a check point just sucks the wind out of you. That just takes the fun right out of it.
By the time I finnish this game I will have the retnas burnned out of the back of ny eyes from trying to reed this micro sized shit xalled dialog. Unbelievable! When I went to school for recording engineering the one thing they told me was to make sure that what you worked on would sound good on anything. I would think that would apply to video games. They should have made sure that the game would look, & sound good on anything. Well! It looks good until you try to reed that damn dialog. Why didnt they do voice over for that any way?
Those nim rods!!
Thanks for the spoiler warning! Now I can't listen to it.. :(
Hey Andy, I was able to save 46 survivors and I'm now working on the last four which I'm heading to. It's possible. Then again, I was a level 42 on my second run though. Now I'm fifty. The last move you learn is Zombie Walk, which lets you shuffle around like a Zombie and fool them.
Yeah, that save system is nearly homicide worthy, and I really like the game as a whole.
I also cannot believe you didn't mention how brain dead the survivors are - I kept thinking "you are too DUMB to be worth saving!"
heartbreakRide,
He did say they were Fcking stupid, but is was a fairly quick comment>
And I337,thanks for the good info ,nice to know that there is hope.
I think you should of left out the spoilers ,I cant listen either.
A review is meant to help people that do not have the game, get a better idea if they will like it. But your review is only any good is people dont mind the spoilers that , make the game less fun.
is it me of is this completely "thompson" ?
"thompson" a new catch phase mean retard and stupid. or something that is of no use.
sorry for the rant, love the show I enjoyed the bfme igr.
dante, reviews for games sometimes have spoliers in them. In order to fully review the game aspects of it that are revealed later on need to be addressed. Unfortunatly with Dead Rising, the only thing you know before you play is that there are zombies to kill. Many other things happens during the game, so unless we discuss it, we'll have a 15 minute review of the first hour of the game. It would limit us to not talk about any of the bosses, fights, later gameplay mechanics (because they change based on what's going on), and so on.
Simply put, this is one of those games that requires spoilers to get in a good review.
Fair point but would you want to read a review of "usual suspects" that had a spoiler about the end. Would this reduce your enjoyment of the film, if you hadn't seen it.
At the end of the day, i will listen to the review after I have played the game all the way through.
