Crysis is one of those games that, if you haven't heard of it yet, you abso-freaking-lutely will when you see trailers for it at launch and realize, "Shit, I need a new PC".

Slated for release in the second quarter of 2007, Crysis is one of the titles Microsoft is looking to really push Vista adoption into the mainstream of gaming with its DX10 technology. Oh, did we mention you need a new video card, too?

Anyhow, Hexus.TV got some footage (20 minutes of it!) from an event in Britain that includes a walkthrough of the latest build plus a bit of Q & A. It's not up on YouTube, so I gotta link you to its page, but damned if it isn't worth the terrible lag. Some of the innovations in this game are just freaking scary.

Things to note from the part of the vid that loaded properly for me:

  • Modular, customizable weapons;

  • Instant accesss and ability to rearrange your stats by way of the Nanosuit;

  • Alien ship portion of the game will be entirely zero G?;

  • Trees: They still blow up real nice;

  • Componant vehicle damage (though tires don't go flat; they just explode, leaving you to drive on the rim. A little strange, but still cool).

So go check it out!

Guess I may or may not be able to play it. I'm not really sure.

For a game that looks so good I'm disappointed to see so many little flaws... Trees shredding like nothing (hell you can punch them), tires that explode, horrible animations (you see when he punched that guy? what a joke), and the whole weapon attachment system... apparently in the future gun parts and ammo can magically just be swapped out in a blink of an eye.

And on a side note, I hate when developers use the term full destructible environments... no, they're not. Red Faction is the only game where I allowed a developer to use that phrase. Crysis allows for some trees to be shot down (or punched) and maybe some buildings here and there... About it from what I've seen.

If only it was 360.

Wait a minute. EA! That shouldn't be anywhere near this product

Actually Andy, the tire -do- go flat, it's just hard to notice. It's more noticable on the second tire he shoots, pay special attention to the height of the tire after he shoots it the first time.

This is probably the only game that looks better than Gears graphically. Other than Crysis, I dont think we will see a game that looks better than Gears for a while, not even FF XIII and MGS 4.

Hey guys ;)Man, it's been like 18 months since I closed the doors on GamerAndy.com....  Sure, there have been a few posts about where we happened to be at the time, but yeah....   And the show (GamerAndy Live!) did keep...
