leftmenu_btn_gr2.jpgUbisoft have released the Ghost Recon AW 2 demo on Xbox live, the demo weighs in at 625.54 mb. So what is my overall impressions of the demo, well honestly the demo is pretty horrid. XBL demo's have improved considerable recently with the release of Crackdown and Rainbow Six Vegas which where praised as pretty decent but it seems like GRAW 2 has just lowered the bar with its poor design and awkward controls.

More impressions after the jump

Once again the player is in Mexico, the level last about 5 to 10 minutes and is a tutorial mission introducing us to the controls of GRAW from the covering system to the vehicle controls. The control scheme is pretty much the same and seems dated compared to recent titles like Gears and Vegas which do the same thing only much better, covering seems sluggish and awkward. The camera is a lot closer to the characters shoulder which was kind of a pain as the the ghost seems to crowd the screen.

As you progress you will be introduced to the new vehicle "the Mule", there is no point to the mule in the demo other then developers showing us that it this is a new toy which has replaced the APCs only difference is you can control the mule. The controls for the mule are hideously bad, you have to hold the right shoulder button while steering with the left analog stick which is very uncomfortable. The mule is controlled in first person view with distorted  blurry graphics to make it feel like a real camera which only makes it feel shamelessly ugly and annoying.

A positive to demo is that the Cypher is now able to be controlled which makes scanning for enemies a lot more accurate and also reduces the chance of the cypher being shot down by the enemy. Also the graphics have been improved but enemies in the demo are always too far away for you to really notice the changes to much.

So  ubisoft,  I ask this question how did you get from what you have been showing us which looked promising to this mess of a demo, please i would like an answer because I am stunned that something this bad could be released. Overall this is just my opinion, do i have high expectation... maybe but why should i expect any less they want me to purchase there product . Try the demo see what you think, but don't expect too much.
