Contrary to rumors that surfaced over the weekend, Konami has stated that it has "No plans to Bring Metal Gear Solid 4 to the PS3 at this time," in a press release with Computer and Videogames Magazine.

Frankly, I'm suprised this even became an issue. If there's one title that Sony will do just about anything to keep exclusive, it's MGS4. And more importantly, the originators of this rumor --Noos.com - -has the delightful track record of such gems as "Time Crisis 4 to be released exclusively for PS3 at launch." I recognize the potential profit motive behind any future MGS4 port, but it was pretty obvious that this site, if none other, has little in the way of credibility when it comes to this claim.

Hey all.
Saw this when I was crusing Destructoid this morning and thought it was worthy of a post. Let's keep in mind though that this is a rumor by way of a rumor by way of an unconfirmed anonymous conversation, so don't *really* get your hopes up.
The original article is up at RumorReporter.

Speaking with a friend of mine from Germany, who works for a very legitimate gaming production publication, I can confirm that Nintendo truly does have something under their sleeves in the next few months. Of course, I can’t say more than that at the current moment, but now you’re glad that you checked the site the other weekend right? The secret lies within the Wii’s interface, most notably the channels. Something just might surprise you how far Nintendo can go in actually changing the infrastructure of their next-gen console.

Remember IGN’s interview with NOA’s Perrin Kaplan?

IGN: “Do we have any more surprises on the way before launch?”

Kaplan: “We do have a couple of other surprises. You know probably not as big as what you got today, but more details on a couple of different things that I think people… I think your folks will be very pleased about.”

These secrets are contained in upcoming channels to surface eventually -- ones that haven’t been announced. Nintendo’s playing a waiting game on when to reveal this, but I cannot confirm anything other than that. Stay tuned on these developments.

In other developments, you might want to keep an eye on your Wii’s WiiConnect24 service leading up to this Christmas. Nintendo’s sending a nifty gift… a surprise.

I've been hearing this rumor on and off for a few days, but hadn't posted it because I'm trying to keep the Sony Bashing to a mnimum with the launch coming up....   When I got this email though through our anonymous tip line, I thought i'd toss it out there for ya'll to see. - Andy

Today I was at my local Wal-Mart waiting for my prescriptions to be filled as I played some Guitar Hero 2 on the display they had setup. After the employees (including electronics dept. manager and DM) finished "ooh"- and "ahh"-ing over my ability to use all five fret buttons and do three finger chords they persuaded me to check out the PS3 display that the Sony reps had just finished putting in while I was dropping off my medications.

After they had a good giggle at my George Forman grill joke and agreed with me on the inflated price point and lack of Blu-Ray titles (hell, they only had 6 BR movies in the entire store), I noted how much the remote next to the Bravia remote they had inside the display looked like a cheap DVD player remote. Upon further inspection, I noticed out loud that the PS3 (displayed with ugly Spiderman font facing, so ports and disc drive were visible only under close scrutiny) was actually not connected... at least through the ports on the side.

After talking to the Wally-World peons, they did note that the displays weren't actual PS3s - the video on the screens was actually coming from a DVD player (upscaling, I presume - as it was HD). If Sony can't spare a single PS3 for an in-store display, how many will Wal-Mart actually be getting? They couldn't answer, but they sure were ready to sell me a game for one - either THP8 or Marvel Ultimate Alliance, as that was all they had in stock. (Not too shabby for 3 days ahead of launch, I suppose.) I have included evidence photos below, but my cameraphone isn't the best and the glare from the halogen lights on the display didn't help matters. The photo of the entire display shows the remotes sitting on the shelf to the left of the "PS3", and, under close scrutiny, shows no apparent cables coming from the "PS3", but, again, the glare may make some apprehensive to this idea. The second photo vividly shows a 23in Bravia LCD remote on the right hand side, with a black non-descript DVD player remote next to it. That's proof enough for me. -Anonymous

Hey all,
Andy here with this mornings gaming update.... I've been way the hell too busy recently, and its nice to kick back and watch the good folks at Xbox.com do some of the legwork for us.... That said, if you're interested in watching the keynote address (I use the term loosely) at X06, you can tune into it over at the UK Xbox.com, where they'll be streaming it live.     No promises the feed stays up, but it should be an interesting ride.

I briefly talked with Major Nelson this morning, and he mentioned that he'd be trying to live-blog the event as much as possible, so if you have issues with the stream you might want to check out his site.

In my standard ear-to-ground protocol, I've picked up a few highly-unlikley-but-very-interesting rumors.

1)  There will be a new Halo 3 trailer + multiplayer game details revealed today (It goes on to mention something about 64 players
2) We're going to see Demos released for both the new Splinter Cell:Double Agent title (multiplayer) as well as Hawkes' favorite "Mass Effect"
3) Tons of HD-DVD details

Take the halo 3 stuff with a grain of salt, that wasn't the most reliable source to be hoenst......

Morning all (It's 12:00am PST right now)

Andy here trying to get back into the swing of running some actual news and commentary that doesnt concern our little podcast fiasco, and I figured nows as good a time as any.

hitch2_qjgenth.jpg
One of my co-conspirators from highschool thecactusman17 tipped us off about Qj.net busting up the suspected (and now confirmed fake) Sonic Ps3 Boxart.

From the article:

We apologize for getting some of your hopes up. Truthfully, we were hoping it was real too. Then we decided to dig a bit further, and as some of you commenters have mentioned, it's a convincing and painstakingly-made fake of Metallic Force.

You can view the pictures of the original Blu-ray product, as well as a screenshot of the Xbox 360 cover. We can only imagine how many layers it took to get the box right, and how many more had to be done to get the disc in our previous article looking like something you'd expect from a PlayStation game.

One thing though. If you're going to trick us, could you at least use a better box? After all, QJ at least deserves to be tricked with the Blu-ray of Independence Day, right?

...So yeah.... If you were hoping for Sonic Box Art... They sure showed you!

-Andy
P.S. as you can tell, i'm out of practice... Expect real news and commentary later today :)

Nintendo-Wii-va-folosi-Opera-2.jpg
So, I'm expecting an early november launch for the Wii.

Or at least, I was until a few hours ago when I read the insanely overhyped, previously embargoed story on Joystiq about the production of the main chip in the Nintendo's latest console.

From the article:

To put it in english for ya, it means that we're gonna start seeing Wii's on store shelves sooner rather than later and frankly, i'd be suprised if they wait until they have to compete directly with sony for your gaming dollars.

Commentary and fun-poking after the jump

Hey all,
Andy here with some good news for the PS3... I actually like the new "RESISTANCE: Fall of Man" footage buried within the latest PS3 ad (see attached video).    Also to note, we'll have some brand-spanking-new details on Devil May Cry 4 as soon as we can get our hands on the scans....  But from what I hear, TRISHA is a playable character.

Enjoy!

Hey everybody,
I've got some interesting news for you today.

Yesterday, IGN.com posted an article containing rumored Wii launch dates, pricing, colors, and manufacturing numbers. After being up a few hours the article was pulled. Apparently the source of this information wrote IGN saying that, "I do not wish to go to jail in the morning." But hours later the article, which was now edited, was re-published. HMMMMM... I think this one might actually have a bit of truth behind it...

release date: November 2-12
Price: 229.99 US
Color: black or white
units at launch: original---5.5 million---republished---5 million

Speculation on the reasons behind this debacle after the jump....

guitarhero.jpg
GamerAndy.com has recieved exclusive word from a source "in the know" who asked to remain anonymous that Red Octane is hard at work not only on a second PS2 iteration of their DDR-gone-electric gaming sensation, Guitar Hero, but also developing a version for the Xbox 360! When approached for comment, Microsoft declined as per their standard handling of unconfirmed information. Even taken with a grain of salt though, this is exciting to me.

If the Guitar Hero franchise comes to the 360, could we be seeing not only downloadable tracks and guitars via the marketplace, but perhaps also online play over XBox Live? Perhaps even "Ultimate Guitar Hero" tourneys? The possibilities are endless and the very idea has me (I'm one song away from completing GH on Expert) giddy at the possibility of schooling Hawkes with my wireless guitar controller.

Even so, this is unconfirmed by anybody outside our source and so should be taken with a grain of salt.
EDIT Let me clarify something here, I see lots of people out there reading this as "Guitar Hero 3 is Xbox360 Exclusive!". We have no idea if it is, but I would assume it's not. The only chunk of info we've got is that there is a version being created for the 360... This DOES NOT negate the very good chance that there is also a PS3 version in the works, it just didnt come up in the conversation

Your thoughts?

guitar_revolution_teaser.jpgGamespot reports:

"The trademark, filed with the US Patent and Trademark Office on June 29, is littered with selected keywords and phrases used to describe the company's new endeavor. Among the trademark's listed descriptions are "video game controller in the form of an electronic toy guitar, sold as a unit," "stand alone electronic game machines with electronic toy guitars," and "coin-operated video games.""

As a Guitar Hero freak, I'd actually love to see a competitor on the market. Sure, it'll be another $70-$80 game with another weird contoller, but it's always nice to have alternatives (not that I'm leaving GH or GH2 behind anytime soon). Here's hoping Konami doesn't pull a "Karaoke Revolution" with this one and just totally screw it up or make it an arcade-only game.
While we're on the subject, though, how about some suggestions as to what Konami should add and/or take out of the Guitar Hero formula for Guitar Revolution? I'd love to be able to do string bends and pick slides just like I do on my real guitar, and it's not too far-fetched for Konami to throw those features into a controller. Also, give us some of that crazy Japanese rock, Konami - we can handle it, and some rythym/music game enthusiasts (me) are tired of you "Americanizing" your US ports too much.
What are your suggestions, dear readers? Leave them in the comments section and maybe we'll have some of our ideas put in the game (right after pigs start sprouting wings and flying).

Game ON!

hdmi_maybe.jpgXbox-Scene Reports:

"We received this image from a source who wishes to remain anonymous. An Xbox 360 motherboard with a HDMI-port, interesting... Our source has seen 3 of these motherboards already, so it looks like Microsoft might prepare a new Xbox 360 version with a HDMI-port... A digital output would certainly come as good news for those out there with new HDTV-sets and it could be pretty useful for the HD-DVD addon too, certainly if those movies will ever be HDCP-protected. However people who already paid $400 for their 360 might feel less happy if Microsoft releases this soon."

Speculation and technical discussion after the jump.

Hello again fans Ethan here,
Looks like there are some new scans from Heavenly Sword, but before I can continue I want to post a little disclaimer:
Whatever is said here is based on the facts at hand and I wish to try to debunk some misconceptions and rumors before they spread on the interwebz.

click the pic for the whole gallery

Well lets continue on to the juicy stuff.
Today Jeux-France has upload some new scans of HS with some BS little blurb about E3. here comes the weird part, It seems that these new scans show that HS is looking less like the E3 trailler.
the part about these new pics is that they seemed like they could have been altered because of this little guy
View image
look at the bottom looks like the GS logo no? well it isn't its a meter and these pics aren't touched up
to look worse so I hope I have cleared up some possible misconception from spreading.
Now to explain the weird HDR effect.
In order to increase efficiency on the GPU fp16 HDR will not be used, instead a new technique based off INT8 will do it. So thats where this kinda ugly bloom comes from.

Well now that you understand why the bloom is so weird, lets hope the game can live up to its impressive E3 showing last year.

Hey all, remember this?Oblivion 360 Only?

Well, according to Eurogamer, Bethesda has absolutely no plans to release The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion on the PlayStation 3 or PSP.

"At present we have no announced plans to bring Oblivion to any platforms other than PC or Xbox 360," is the official line issued yesterday.

The source, who claimed his source was a leaked release list from Bethesda, has made a statement in regards to Bethesda's rumor control.

"...if this news isn't true it's because some sales idiot at Bethesda sent out incorrect info"

It's still possible, but I doubt it more now than I doubted it before.

Game on!

Posted by Sherveen - Apr 26 06 11:29AM Comments18 Comments

oblivion.jpgGrain of salt folks, grain of salt.  Via Gaming Age:

"Today, a leaked release list from Bethesda revealed the existence of Oblivion for PS3 and PSP. The Xbox 360 exclusive RPG is reportedly slated for a port and a portable version, both due on November 6, 2006. No details on either version are available now, but it leaves the question of whether or not either of the ports will have microtransactions."

The first big question is, Oblivion on the PSP how?  Obviously though, it wouldn't be a straight port of the game, it would be a dumbed down version with its own engine.  It seems like there may be a trend of PS3/PSP games with special features if you have both versions.  Way to suck your money huh?  All in all, if both games are fun, then it's worth it.  To me, it seems like they 'could' do something worthwhile on the PSP, but will they put forth the effort?

Another question that the Gaming Age post asks is if it will have microtransactions.  If Oblivion does in fact come out for the PS3 and PSP, I can guarantee it will have microtransactions.  Why?  Because Sony is pushing their XBL-esque download service, and why not for a game with already successful downloads?  Guess we'll find out in just less than two weeks when E3 begins.

Adios Esposito!

HALO 3!!!!

An anonymous source close to Microsoft has stated that Microsoft will publish Halo 3 for the Xbox 360 in March 2007.

Obviously Microsoft has declined to comment. One might question the logic of releasing such a huge franchise in the first quarter instead of the holiday season but considering that the PS3 and Revolution will have just realesed in the past couple of months, this may be a smart move. Keep people thinking about the 360 and get all those Halo diehards to pony up for a 360 instead of a PS3. You know I can't wait. I'll place my preorder for Halo 3 when I'm picking up my PS3.

Stay tuned, E3 is just around the corner and Halo 3 news is sure to follow.

Edie, here. While working on my latest irlGirl, I got a little tip from an anonymous source regarding what Blizzard's up to this week.

wow-logoXbox.jpgI mean, what they're up to beyond repeatedly restarting their crashed World of Warcraft servers.

My little bird says Blizzard execs are meeting in Los Angeles this week for a little private meet-and-greet followed by something being demoed on an XBox 360.

That something? Nobody knows but Blizz at the moment.

Could this mean that Starcraft: Ghost is closer to release than they're letting on? Or could all those little enduring rumors of World of Warcraft going to the XBox 360 be true, depsite repeated denials from Blizzard?

One thing about enduring rumors: There's a reason they endure.

The event ends reportedly with a preview viewing of "V for Vendetta," Natalie Portman's futuristic thriller vehicle. You know what they say: All work and no play... yadda, yadda, yadda.

Let the speculation begin!

This could be old news, or it could be complete BS
I woke up 10 minutes ago, checked the tip line and found this in it

EDIT: Looks like it's a photoshop fake courtesy of somethingawful, leaving it up for posterity but jokes over
cb-test04.jpg

We get plenty of BS tips, and maybe its just the fact that I can barely keep my eyes open, but I felt like this one was worth posting

Anybody have any speculation on what all Cherry Blossom is?

Hello everyone, time to shed some knowledge.

For a while there we were getting nervous as to whether the PS3 would come out in 2006 or not. With very little news to cover since the Tokyo Game Show, we've been a little dry with the PS3 info. The month of February has come, and the info is finally starting to peek its proverbial head out of the womb.

First, we have WA! PS3 Online. What's that you may be asking? It's not perfectly clear due to it being in either Japanese or Korean, but I've got a good idea. A Korean online development team is working with SCE World Wide Studios to bring online games to the PS3.

Whether this means they will develop full on games, or help Sony with the PS3's actual online service is yet to be determined. Why WA! you ask? In Japanese, "wa" means "harmony." So, thus it translates to Harmony PS3 Online. I can see their adverts now: "Live in Your World, Play in Harmony."

Next up, we have some news on the Cell processor (for those who have been living under a rock, that's the PS3's processor). Coming from the senior Vice President of IBM's Systems and Technology Group, the Cell has had the best chip yield of any new processor they've ever created. What this means? A good sign as to the number of PS3's we'll see at launch. However, there is always a chance of bugs, especially with new electronics, and the PS3 is made of a plethora of components. I'd like to know what their production numbers are on the Blu-ray drive; this is another new and important component in the PS3.

Hello everyone, time to shed some knowledge.

Who might I be? I'm Kyle, the site's newest writer; you may know be better as Obscene Truth.

Yesterday, Kotaku published some pictures of the "supposed PS3 Interface." video.jpg

After seeing the XMB (Cross Media Bar) interface being used in both the PSX and the PSP, as well as in a photo from the 2005 Tokyo Interactive Digital Conference, it would appear that this new interface is nothing more then a Photoshop attempt to stir up fans of the PS3.

Could this have anything to do with the multiple Revolution interface screenshots? Absolutely, why not jump on the hype-wagon that Revolution fans are living through? Hopefully, we won't have to wait much longer for some real information; it's somewhat disturbing when something like this is some of the top news from Sony right now.

Today I have a new PS3 rumor for ya guys.

The rumor comes from an EBgames employee who says that EB and GS will start taking preorders for the PS3 soon. They will be offering to different versions to preorder.

The $399.99 version

Now your expecting the $299.99 version right? wrong.
According to him there will also be an ultra expensive version priced at $599.99.

Supposedly the cheaper version will not be able to play Blu-Ray movies, only blu ray games. and the ultra -eat only ramen noodles for 4 months so you can save up- version will have all the bells and wistles hopefully, but no word of an included HDD.

If this rumor is true MSoft has an Ace up there Sleeve, no they have the whole freakin deck up their sleeve. Halo 3 could be ready for release already.

According to this Not only is Halo 3 done and ready for duplication, but even the box art and booklets are finalized.
The informant also says that the duplicators are just waiting for the word from microsoft (bringing that whole counter the PS3 thing up again).

Lets follow this drama's plot for a little bit,
First Bill Gates tells Time that Halo 3 will parry the PS3's launch
Then Bill Gates tells us "When its ready"
And now the rumor is that its done and MSoft is just waiting on it.

Hey guys I'm sure that you've heard the recent "rumors" that DOA4 was heading to the PS3 along with another DOA game.
According to Jeux-France Tecmo has given out an official statement.
Official statement from Tecmo contradicts those rumors. The statement basically says:

Tecmo does not intend to develop DOA for PS3 as of yet, and that the first titles under development on PlayStation 3 should be announced "soon."

So no DOA4 for PS3, too bad for Sony. There will be a Tecmo game for PS3 however it could be Tecmo baseball. ED. I am self pwned for writing Rumble Roses
Looks like a mixed bag of news today. If you like 360 good, if you like PS3 bad.

Hey guys Ethan here with what is a rumor, and nothing more.
According to how you translate a new article on http://gamefront.de/ about Devil May Cry 4, it may or may not be exclusive.

There is an english gamesite who confirms that it says that DMC4 is exclusive to PS3
http://www.totalvideogames.com/news/DMC4_Not_A_PS3_Exclusive__9125_4394_0.htm

Well the article (which originally apperaed in Famitsu) also says that Dante could have a beard in this one. What kind of beard? Goatee? Chuck Norris style? Who knows.

Well it looks like this rumor was just lost in translation.

Well looks like there is a news drought recently, never fear all you PS3 fanboys should wet themselves over this. How powerfull is the RSX? does more than four 7800gtx sound right? If it does your probably very biased.
here's a link to the article

Here's what the article states,

The Gametrailers site diffuses it video of the interview of Derek Perez , in addition to-Atlantic representative of NVIDIA , carried out at the time of THESE , in which it presents the Quad-SLI technology , which consists, in short, to combine together four graphics boards NVidia in a PC, in order to obtain maximum graphic performances.

The characteristics obtained by this technology are as follows:

. 1,3 million transistors
. 41 Gigapixels/seconde
. 96 pixel pipes
. 2Go of graphic memory
. 5,2 TFlops of total power

According to Perez and its assistants, this technology makes it possible to push all the details of a play to the maximum: resolution, effects special, etc... without testing the least deceleration. Two plays are presented to propose this technology: The Lord Of The Rings: The Battle For the Earth Of Medium 2 , and Dungeon & Online Dragons .

And always according to Perez , this technology "makes it possible to the players to have an idea of the quality which will be realizable on the PS3" , via chip developed by NVidia , the RSX .

Teh ZOMG 1z 7ru3!, but not really. Sounds alot like some BS. I mean how could a card based off the g70 architecture be 4x better so quickly? And remember this is coming from Nvidia, so take it with a truck of salt.

Ethan, reporting on the PS3 for a change out.

Kotaku is running a an interesting conversation with a supposed "Industry Insider" who goes by the nick "Fishie". According to him, progress is slower than Sony would like the rest of the world to believe. Kotaku has sourced "Fishie" before, crediting him with their Highly Accurate 360 Specs almost 3 months before E3 2005.

In my brief break from the holiday stuffing of the face, I took a job around the Team Xbox Forums and found this little nugget

If anybody speaks spanish, you don't need the translation - but for the rest of us gringos, heres what google thinks it says

Confidential sources of absolute confidence have recently revealed to Players4Players the quite peculiar news that we offer to you in world-wide exclusive right . You will remember all that until now have said that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion had been delayed to the 2006 “ so that not yet ” was finished;. Then the “versión not oficial” of this history it is that in fact the game has been two months finished , but when in Bethesda Softworks they received kit of definitive development for the new console of Microsoft, realized of which this machine had hardware very well to do much more of which they had thought. Therefore they decided not to declare Gold the game and to dedicate all this time to improve the quality of the same one, mainly in the graphical section. We suppose, although this already enters within the absolutely speculative section, that version PC also will tell on the graphical improvements that they are preparing for Xbox 360. Source: Own elaboration .

To summarize: They're saying that when Bethesda recieved their final hardware, they realized they'd been optimizing for a lower set of specs, and realized that if they pushed back a few months they could improve the game performance and appearence, specifically in the graphics department. What does this really mean? It means (if true) that the screenies we've seen arn't accurate, and the real game will look even better.

In a word: Awesome

This is usually Ethans area, but I just got this in my google alerts and thought ya'll would be interested

i4u.com is reporting that DOA4, arguably one of the most anticipated launch titles that then stopped being a launch title, is shipping later this week. Not sure if this is legit, they only cite Amazon, so its probably a case of them taking an online retailers release date seriously

But hey, who cares?

(Merry Christmas!)

Sorry for posting this much later than I wanted.
By now I'm sure you've all heard the Rumors about the Rev.
Well tonight is when the specs are "rumored" to be released.
Suped up xbox, 128 RAM, current generation technology..... blah blah blah
Come on people only 128 MB of RAM thats probably just an alpha dev kit. And remeber people the Rev will have to support UE3 (only because it has to in the eyes of the hardcore) and you have to remember that the Rev is very small so heat and size is a real issue for the componenets.

Now this part is mostly an editorial, but you won't be dissapointed ;-)
So lets go through the Rev rumors

Yes, who wants some Rare DS games?
Rareware.jpg
I mean Rare definition number 3.
Remeber That old Rumor that Rareware was starting a DS division? Well all you Rare faithful here you go.
NOTE What is said after this is a Rumor that has not been confirmed by me yet. Expect a confirmation later on.

I was tipped off by a friend that EGM is claiming that Rare is in fact making 2, count' em 2 DS games. With a new Banjo Kazooie to be one of them.
Looks like Rare really is back to making games (grabbed by the ghoulies :shudders: ).
What is the other game you might be thinking, well lets speculate.

Well it looks like I'm the one updating in the void that is right before Zero Hour. But don't worry about me I've come to terms with not going to the middle of nowhere.
; )
GAME3d68d0b83ab17a284c7ce3627a05bcba.jpgI suppose everybody remembers the fight night round 3 demo that was shown off at Sony's E3 press conference. It was something to behold, the textures the rippiling of skin. It seemed as though EA's Fight Night was only Playstation bound.
That all changed a few months ago when It was revealed to Game Informer that Fight Night and Def Jam were headed to 360 and PS3.

Now what does the game actually look like? Does it live up to that amazing demo at E3?
In a word Yes.
In an interview with the "G-hole" the game was shown off to look just as sweat, if only a little worse.

Hey guys looks like a certain blonde spikey haired swordsman has a new rumor going around. No not me
Is FFVII headed to the DS?
ffds.jpg
Well The Spong is reporting this.
So if you didn't know FFVII is the game that possibly took down nintendo's console empire. FFVII breaking the long time Nintendo Square relationship by changing to Playstation when Nintendo decided not to use a disc format.
Blah blah blah. History lesson over.

From Joystiq:

Whoa whoa whoa, what’s going on here? Circuit City’s website has promised that Xbox 360 units will be avaliable at 2pm ET this Friday. That’s a good 3.5 days (82 hours) ahead of schedule.
Better call in sick to work on Friday if you intend to snag one, though, because that line will be forming on Thursday at some locations. Also, be prepared to shell out more than you may have budgeted, as Circuit City will only be selling systems bundled with games.
Update: more details. According to a Circuit City customer service rep we just spoke to, every physical Circuit City location will be selling the console this Friday at 2pm ET. Just to be sure, we called again and spoke to a second rep: “Yes, it will be available this Friday at 2pm ET online as well as at our stores.?

UPDATE 2: Hi Folks, Cooper Hawkes updating this article: Reader Tbyrd pointed out that the little Asterisk (*) next to the date shows:

*Available in-store Tuesday, 11/22. Web-only packages not available for pre-order or in-store pickup. We are receiving shipments on a regular basis. Please check back frequently.

Guess that settles that. Thanks Tbyrd!

Hi folks, Cooper Hawkes here with rather interesting RUMOR to report.

About a week ago I received one of those famous anonymous e-mails that actually wasn’t about updating my PayPal account.

Instead it went like this:

Hey Hawkes,

I like that you are giving more PlayStation news than before. You do not appear to be a fanboy when it comes to gaming so I figured I’d throw you a bone.

Take-Two and Sony will announce GTA Exclusive as a counter program to Xbox 360’s release.

Do your homework and you will know I am right.

Good luck.

Seems as though the story on the stolen XeDKs I ran a while ago wasn't about Team SmartXX stealing them at all. SmartXX was supplied their XeDKs by - get this - MICROSOFT! That's right, MS gave a KNOWN MODDING TEAM devkits! Know, everyone within the Xbox/XB360 underground has known that MS has been inside for a while. MS and affiliated agency's reps have made their presence known in order to get feedback and discourage piracy in the community. In fact, some of the most innovative ideas on the 360 - the faceplates, the media center capabality, the skinning, the user-created content - were from the modding community. Long before MS had any inkling of thinking about desiging the 360, modders were painting their 'boxes, setting them up as media centers, and changing every program possible. Now that SmartXX has confirmed that their kits were indeed from MS, the question begs answering: "How far deep into 'The Scene' is MS really?" It's kind of a weird thought to know that the modding teams have had a relationship with MS for a long time...

Hey again folks,
I'm on hold with Blizzard trying to cancel my WoW account and just saw this one over at Riches Will Rust forums... One of their members, IvanJRN posted some "New Information" that may or may not be legit about Halo 3, but more importantly he posted a 120+ page PDF credited to Joe Staten (Writer of Halo 1 and 2, and voice of the Grunts ) which claims to be the script. You need to register on the forums to grab a copy, so I figure i'll just throw it up here for everybody... Lets be clear, I dunno if this is legit or not, but I took a look at the script and even if its total BS, its still a decent bit of writing. Downside is, if this is the real thing then its a bit of a spoiler (Go figure)

Download at your own risk
Click keep reading if you want to see the "New information". If its legit, I'm a happy fucking panda.

I know this may sound like blaspheme but Final Fantasy is not the best RPG series. Yes you read that right all you FF fan boys (and girls). Chrono Trigger is by far better then any FF game ever, even FF7. And that says a lot because FF7 is the game that grabbed my soul and made me fall in love with RPG’s. But the first time I played Chrono Trigger I was hooked.

After Chrono Cross came out and did well many players wanted to play the prequel so Squaresoft brought it out in the US again on a disc with a few of the older Final Fantasy games. After that a whole new generation of gamers had the chance to enjoy the series and a huge fan base grow out of that.

By now I’m sure you have all heard Bill Gates say that Halo 3 will launch the same day that the PS3 is set to launch in the US. Is this a smart move, will that be enough time for Bungie to make the game out to be what it should be?

Seeing that Halo was the must own game at launch for Xbox, many are wondering if Microsoft can do it again.

Lets start off with some small bits of info before moving on to the OMG info.

Fable is a game that many waited 3 years or longer for and when it came out were let down. It was to be the best RPG ever and instead we got a cross between Morrowind and Animal Crossing. Not that it turned out badly, but it was not all that it was made out to be and it was a bit on the short side.

In an age of sequels we all knew that Fable 2 would be made. Its safe to say that it will not appear on Xbox but instead on the Xbox360. But will it live up to everyone’s expectations this time? Only time will tell.

Speaking at the Playstation meeting in Japan, Ken Kutargi, Sony President, stated that the PS3 will have a 10 year life cycle and will be expensive. Kutargi confirmed backwards compatibility and HD compatibility. Speaking about the price, Kutargi said, "I'm aware that with all these technologies, the PS3 can't be offered at a price that's targeted towards households...I'm not going to reveal its price today. I'm going to only say that it'll be expensive."

So what will the price be? Should Sony take that risk seeing that the Xbox 360 will be around 300? Does anyone still have their 3DO? No, cause it cost an arm and a leg, it was like 700 and no one wanted to dish out the cash for it. Does that mean the same will happen to Sony’s new machine? I don’t see it failing but staying the king with a huge price tag will be hard, even with a spot in pop icon history backing it up.

Posted by Andy - Aug 4 05 07:32PM Comments1 Comments

According to Computer and Video Games, the release and pricing details for the 360 have been leaked by... Walmart?

And the second slice of gossip? Well, a little more iffy; apparently, a number of US folk have spied Xbox 360 advertising in branches of Walmart with the price $299.96 attached, with such titles as Perfect Dark Zero and PGR3 additionally mentioned in the advertising and priced at $59.99.

Seems legit to me. Those of us "in the know" have heard November 4th for over a month now (but it's never been confirmed), and Allard has been touting the "about the same price as the original Xbox" phrase for a while now. Maybe smoeone just made it up because it's so logical...

The game that won the 32 bit wars, the game that made the world look at RPG's with a new love, the game that made many grown men cry, Final Fantasy 7. I can still remember the first time I started up that game on the PS1 and seeing the opening movie, jumping off the train and fighting, the size of clouds sword. It brings back a lot of good memories for many gamers. That game spawned a following for FF games that continues until today and is one of the reasons that Sony still owns the gaming wars.

Has Nintendo ever let you down? There are two ways to answer that. In software, and hardware. This is no history lesson so I’ll skip the ill fated Nintendo 64 with its Cartridges and that horrible game Mario’s Missing for the super Nintendo. But with the exception of a few minor problems, Nintendo has always delivered the goods. That brings us to the Nintendo Revolution Controller issue.

Many different rumors have been talked about on the net the last few months concerning this mystery. With the lack of Nintendo presence at the Tokyo Game show this year the world sits and waits for news of the controller to come about.
